QUOTE: Light on the True Tree

… They are the colors of nature. Colors too, which even after printing, continue to have an effect where Green comes close to her old profession, painting. Green places her 'Tree' in a long art historical tradition, from Casper David Friedrich's strongly Romantic, 'Oak in the Snow', to the crooked trees of seventeenth century illustrators like Goltzius and Segers. Like all the others before her, Green has also managed to touch timelessness by painting with light.
